About the Chapter
The West Michigan Alumni Chapter (WMIAC) of Tau Beta Pi is a volunteer organization serving and supporting the Tau Beta Pi alumni residing in the West Michigan area, as well as the student chapters at Western Michigan University (WMU) and Grand Valley State University (GVSU), the two universities in its area. Michigan Kappa (MI-K) is the student chapter at WMU, while Michigan Lambda (MI-L) is the student chapter at GVSU. WMIAC has been active since the spring of 2023, after having been dormant for several years prior. Meetings are held once a month, usually virtually via Zoom, although occasionally in person, to discuss chapter business. WMIAC keeps its members engaged through a variety of activities including attending initiation at the university chapters, attending Engineering Design Conferences at the universities, and participating in and attending an alumni panel discussion at the universities on Pi Day. At the 2025 Tau Beta Pi National Convention, WMIAC received the Most Improved Alumni Chapter Award.
